This class is for returning / experienced American Red Cross Lifeguards who are currently certified OR whose certifications have expired / will expire from March 15, 2020 to June 30, 2021. 

This is a 2 step process:

First, the student will complete an online program to receive their PROVISIONAL Lifeguard certification - at this point they CAN lifeguard at their pool or aquatic facility.

Second, the student will need to complete an Elite Tactical Academy in-person skills session at a regularly scheduled Lifeguard Review class in NJ / PA.  Locations include, Basking Ridge, Bernardsville, Denville, Reiglesville, Parlin, Saw Creek PA and more!  This course needs to be completed by June 30, 2021.

Pre-requisite skills test:

1)  Be able to swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing.  Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both.  Swim goggles may be used.

2)  Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.

3)  Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds:

      a)  Starting in the water, swim 20 yards.  The face may be in or out of the water.  Swim goggles are NOT allowed.

      b)  Surface dive, feet first or head first, to a depth of 7-10 feet and retrieve a 10 pound object.

      c)  Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on your back to return to the starting point, with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath.  Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

Required Gear:  Guard Bathing Suit and Whistle.  We provide each student a customized Guard hip pack w/ adult & infant pocket mask, one way valve, non latex gloves.  This is theirs to keep.  It is our goal to have successful students, trained and equipped to Lifeguard when they graduate from our programs!
